How do you use a burial quilt?

Burial quilts are employed in a variety of ways.

  1. Burial quilts are used as bed quilts, sometimes for many years. My burial quilts are designed to enjoyed in life. You can use it on your bed, wrap up with it on your couch.

  2. Burial quilts are used to wrap the body in preparation for funeral. (For more information on how that works, please see this article.)

  3. The quilt-shrouded body is then placed on a a cradle-board for support and then a durable canvas carrier with handles. This allows pall-bearers to carry the body from the vehicle to the gravesite easier.

  4. The quilt-shrouded body is then lowered into the grave with ropes, often provided by the burial grounds.

  5. Flowers and other natural decorations are among the mementos people often placed on top of the quilt-shrouded body.
